"Beygale" or Savory Israeli bagel cookies

These little salty bites are an absolute delight, just beware of the calories, these are definitely not for those on a diet. You can have these with tea or just as a snack, they're simple to make and your family will be begging you for more almost as soon as they're finished. Here's what you'll need:

1 kilo flour (maybe a smidge more) = around 8 cups worth
1 cup boiling water
1 cup canola or vegetable oil
200 grams kosher shortening (like Crisco or Fleishmans) = 7/8 of a cup (almost 1 full cup)
1/4 cup sesame seeds (plus a few extra tsps for the topping)
2 tsps magic baking powder
2 tsps salt
2 egg whites to brush the tops with

In a large bowl add everything besides the flour and mix well then slowly incorporate the flour a large spoon at a time and mix, when it starts to form a dough you'll need to start kneading the dough instead of mixing. When you have a nice firm dough, that doesn't stick anymore, you tear off a little  ball and roll it lengthwise, then shape it into a doughnut. These rings are rather small, so once formed into a ring, they should be no bigger in diameter than 2 inches or so. Once you have them all laid out on a tray covered with parchment paper, brush egg white on them and sprinkle with sesame seeds then into a preheated 350F oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let them cool before eating and enjoy!
