Moroccan Kefta and potatoes

My mom has made this recipe many times over the years, it's one of my dad's favorites and unbeknownst to me, my husband's too. It's very simple and filling, great for a weekday meal and if you have picky eaters, just add ketchup!
Here's what you'll need:
(makes about 14 meatballs/keftas)

1 pound kosher ground beef
8 large potatoes, peeled and cut into either wedges or large cubes
Less than 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
less than 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric
dash nutmeg

3 tbsp oil
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder

1/2 tsp cumin (1/4 tsp for meat, 1/4 for potatoes)
1/2 tsp paprika (1/4 tsp for meat, 1/4 for potatoes)
salt
pepper

In a bowl, mix the meat with the breadcrumbs, 1 tbsp water, 2 tbsp oil, salt, pepper, a dash of nutmeg, a dash of turmeric, garlic and onion powder, 1/4 tsp cumin, 1/4 tsp paprika, mix it all up thoroughly with your hands and form your meatballs then flatten them like mini hamburgers. In a pot, add the oil, the cut up potatoes, salt, remaining cumin and paprika then add water to almost cover the potatoes, bring to a boil then drop the meatballs inside and lower the heat, cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Then uncover the pot and simmer for another 20 minutes until the meatballs turn darker and most of the water has evaporated and most importantly, enjoy!
