My kosher Shawarma recipe

Is there anything more satisfying than a pita stuffed with Shawarma? I think not! I cannot claim to have the exact recipe for you to make at home, installing a vertical spit is quite challenging, but I have an easy version that is tasty, juicy and amazing. With a few choice salads and even side dishes you will be on your way to a kosher middle-eastern fare quicker than you can say Yalla!
He's what you'll need:
1 to 2 pounds boned, skinned chicken thighs cut up into strips
1 small onion very finely chopped (optional if you do not like onion)
1 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
salt & pepper
1 package thick pitas
In a pan sweat your onions till soft then add your chicken and spices, saute till cooked through.
Cut your pita in half and add Hummus, prepared Tahina, tomato & cucumber salad (otherwise known as Israeli salad), pickle slices and your chicken. Serve with either fries, rice or if you're smart, a salad and Enjoy!
