Hamburgers and French fries!

I found myself with too much ground beef today, I had planned to use half of it to make meatballs for Friday night's supper, but the other half had me stumped, there are only so many meatballs one can make. So, what to do when faced with extra meat? Why, make hamburgers of course! Obviously there is nothing gourmet or special about hamburgers and fries, but I never make them for supper, I think I've made them once since I've been married, so for me this is definitely a treat. I'll make a toppings bar fully loaded with: ketchup, mustard, relish, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles and if I'm really into it; sauteed onions as well. Serve that with fries and a coke and you are set! Here's what you'll need:

1 pound kosher ground beef
1 egg
1 small onion grated
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp water
1/4 tsp dried oregano
salt & pepper
4 hamburger buns

In a large bowl, mix all of the ingredients with a large spoon or your hands, then divide the meat into 4 balls, place each ball between parchment paper and press till 4 inch wide patty is formed. Refrigerate covered for 20 minutes then grill on the BBQ or on a heated skillet with 2 tbsp oil, cook about 7 to 8 minutes on each side, till fully cooked through. Once ready, place on a toasted plain bun or a fresh onion roll, top with all the toppings you like, serve with fries on the side and enjoy!
